In this video Andrew Nacin and Otto Wood (who both work on the WordPress core) gave a great talk at WordCamp Montreal a few of weeks ago. The presentation was called “Advanced Topics in WordPress Development” where andrew and Otto covered some real cool advanced APIs.
They talk and share code snippets on correct usage of meta and taxonomy queries in WordPress, the transients API for better caching and the embed API in WordPress for better content management and less shortcodes madness.
Andrew and Otto also explain the Filesystem API which is mostly used internally for core, themes and plugins updates. Otto shows how easy it is to use it in themes and plugins and how they could benefit both performance and security-wise for things like CSS file generation in themes with a lot of options, caching plugins settings and so on.
Great to learn from these two guys ;) P.S. How do you like our new video post format?
